The recent surge in the use of “flushable” wipes has put a tremendous strain on wastewater utility companies, as they (along with countless other strange objects) have a tendency of remaining lodged in the mouth of a grinder when the water level inside a tank drops. When the water level and float drop, power is cut off to the grinder even though it is not done chewing up the debris. When the water level does come back up and the grinder tries to kick back on, it cannot generate the amount of torque required to turn the clogged impeller or blades. The grinder must then be lifted and cleaned out by field personnel before it can function.
The Float Management Control (FMC) mounts inside the electrical panel powering a pump grinder and keeps the grinder from shutting down while it is in the middle of chewing up debris. The grinder will continue to function until the debris is gone. This means that the grinder remains clean and operational so it is ready when needed.
Installation must be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician, and will take as little as 15 minutes in most cases. The addition of the FMC to the electrical panel does not interfere with a grinder’s thermal overload or current overload circuit, so the pump grinder is still able to shut down if it is not able to grind the debris without causing damage to the grinder.
The Float Management Control (FMC) is available in single or two-channel setups to work with single or multiple-pump systems. This means that there is an option for every residential or commercial/industrial application. The 2CH-01 model will work with 120-, 240-, or 480VAC, single- or 3-phase systems. It will work with any pump grinder up to a 15 HP unit, depending on the model. However, larger custom units can be built to meet heavier demands.

Ordering & Warranty
Lease and Purchase options are available. Our lease program was put together to allow larger companies and municipalities to spread out the cost of buying multiple units. A one-year warranty is included with the purchase of a Float Management Control. For leased units, the warranty continues for as long as the lease is in effect. In either case, the warranty is voided if the tamper-evident seal is broken on the unit or if there is any other indication that anyone other than an IUS (Innovative Utility Solutions, LLC) employee has attempted to open the unit. The Float Management Control must be returned to IUS for any maintenance/servicing. Contact IUS for instructions on returning the FMC to IUS for service.
